I know you’ve done it. I certainly have – we all have. Talking smack to ourselves, hoping to try to bully ourselves in to more productivity, better performance, higher achievement.
In the words of my interview guest, “How’s that working for you?”
Today we’re wading into the murky waters of self-talk, and how we can work with our brain to use language to encourage ourselves instead of mentally beating ourselves up. And here to talk about the whys and hows is none other than Jamie Salé!
Jamie Salé understands pushing through adversity and setbacks to achieve your vision. An Olympic Gold Medalist in pairs figure skating, Jamie has dealt with injury, setback, and even an international judging scandal in the pursuit of her gold medal dreams. Rising to the challenge of becoming an Olympian, and dealing with being a public figure afterwards requires serious physical and mental fortitude, and Jamie now brings what she’s learned both in her Olympic journey and beyond to everything she does. As a strategic high performance coach and motivational speaker, she focuses on building up a strong mindset through the power of vision, intention, and language. In this interview, we dive into how neuroscience, especially language and self-talk, can enable us to move through setbacks (like a global pandemic!) and get back on track in the pursuit of our goals.
